Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2013 Collection invokes a yearning for an Italian holiday and its Sicilian Inspiration is quite evident.
The Collection had boardwalk stripes and baroque
prints—complemented by sun-kissed skin, winged eyeliner, and silk hair scarves. The collection is
brightly colored, with beautiful, rich fabrics. Models paraded down the runway
under the weight of shoulder-dusting chandelier earrings shaped like street
puppets, and swung printed, top-handle bags embellished with woven straw
accents. Knotted headscarves, pom pom-topped platforms, and whipstitched flats provided
the finishing touches.
I like that it also has a sense of humour and creativity with the use of burlap sacks or 'gunias' as we call them in Swahili as one of the fabrics.
For some the collection will probably be too busy but I love it!
